Applications are due in the fall/winter, nearly a full year before your student will actually step foot in the classroom.
Applying to private schools? You'll want to get started even earlier. More about this can be found below.
Private School Admissions:
I know what you're thinking: you want me to start thinking about kindergarten admissions a full 18 months before my child even starts kindergarten?! I know this sounds crazy since your kiddo is only 3 or 4 years old, but the reason is two-fold:
Private school applications become available right after Labor Day, and for some schools, you’ll need to submit a full application (including an application fee and all of your parent essays) in order to schedule the other events (ex. parent interview, child interview, etc.). These events are limited and the best spots fill up quickly, so there’s a strong incentive to know your schools and submit your completed (but well-thought out) application as soon as you can.
More and more private schools are starting to offer virtual open houses in the spring prior to releasing their applications. Whether or not your family knows exactly what schools you’re interested in, you can be a step ahead by learning about all of your options before the fall applications whirlwind. The more of this information you learn, the better an idea you’ll have of where you’ll submit your applications and/or how you then rank your public/charter school options.
